The Scarborough Police Department has received information of a possible telemarketing scam going on in the area. A Scarborough resident reported that she received a phone call from someone who stated he was from "TMS" and that he had information that someone has been taking money out of her bank account without authorization. The telemarketer stated he could have it returned if she gave him the required banking information. She was smart enough to say no and contact her bank direct. The bank told her that there was not any activity on her account and they have heard of this occurring elsewhere. This Scarborough resident did the right thing- she didn't give out the information, checked with the her bank and notified Police-one less victim of a telemarketing scam! | |
